As expected, the recent pulse of water has reenergized the shad run. Fresh schools of American shad have entered the cove while the remaining hickory shad seem to be enjoying the new current and cooler water. Striped bass and perch are also more plentiful. The river is still gradually rising and there may be a couple days of murky water but it is exactly what we needed to extend fishing deep into May. With the reasonable temps for at least the next 7 days and increased flow we should have at least two more weeks of shad fishing. Striped bass fishing should last up to June. Plenty of catfish active as well.
